1. MARINE PROTECTED AREA: CANNON ROCKS.
    • Members of the public should be aware of the Regulations of the National Environment Management: Protected Areas Act, 2003 (Act no 57 of 2003) which came into effect from 1 August 2019.
    • The eastern border of the Addo National Park start from the cannons at Cannon Rocks and therefore, except for an area at Diaz Cross and a section at Bushmans River, the area east of the cannons is not the property of SANParks.
    • Except for a section east of Sundays River – Sundays Offshore Controlled Zone – (SOCZ), offshore (deep-sea) fishing is not permissible from Sundays River Inshore Restricted Zone (SIRZ) to Woody Cape, refer point L on map below, (Kransies at the rope ladder).
    • Rock and surf fishing is permissible between Woody Cape, refer point L on the map below, (Kransies at the rope ladder) and Cannon Rocks.
    • No dogs are allowed on SANParks property, except for 1.6.4 below.
    • Entrance to the Addo National Park, including from the beach area, is subjected to a valid permit, except for the following where permits are not required;
      • persons who intend to go rock and surf fishing (fisherman) and who are in possession of a valid fishing/bait permit, Cognisance must be taken that fishermen are not allowed above the high water mark and that camping is not permissible.
      • pedestrians on approved pedestrian trails.
      • pedestrians walking the “Cannon Trail” as well as walking along the beach between point A, see map below (cannons at Cannon Rocks) and point M, see map below (± 3.3km west of the cannons at Cannon Rocks and ± 1.9km west of Vaalklip).  This is only permissible below the high water mark.  Therefore, walking above the high water mark requires a permit for entrance to the Addo National Park
      • pedestrians with dogs on leashes walking the “Cannon Trail” as well as walking along the beach between point A, see map below (cannons at Cannon Rocks) and point M, see map below, (± 3.3km west of the cannons at Cannon Rocks and ± 1.9km west of Vaalklip). Special permission granted, which is only applicable below the high water mark and on the Cannon Trail.
  1. Wild Card. Enquiries regarding entrance, using a “Wild Card” to be addressed to the Section Ranger Woody Cape – 083 561 0697.
  2. Law Enforcement.
    • Fisherman must be in possession of a valid fishing/bait permit.
    • Except for 1.6.1 to 1.6. 4 above, entrance to SANParks property is subjected to a valid permit.
    • Pedestrians with dogs not on leash or outside allowable boundaries will be fined.
