September 23 Storm

The 16th and 17th of September saw the passing of a massive storm along the South African Coast.
It caused much damage to structures close to the water along the whole Coast Line stretching from the Western Cape right through to Natal.
Cannon Rocks also saw the impact of the swell, but thankfully mostly to our Sand dunes.

The 16th saw some incredibly strong winds reaching 6o knots on the beach and moving large amounts of Sand. The resulting water surge and swell ate into all the sand dunes changing the coastline. This was helped along by spring tides.

Here are some photos of this event which has reshaped our coastline.
