NEWSLETTER AUGUST 2025
We might have skipped July, but we are back in August with some exciting updates to share.
Fire Hazard Contact List
To help keep everyone safe, we have put together a fire hazard contact list along with an information sheet, attached to this newsletter.
Please take a moment to read through it so you’ll know exactly who to call and what steps to follow in the event of a fire emergency.
Tip: Remember to print this out and stick it on your fridge — or somewhere you will see it often — because in an emergency, you do not want to be rummaging through your junk drawer looking for it.
Staying prepared protects our community and helps keep Cannon Rocks safe.

Big news from your Community Hall
We have been busy behind the scenes giving the hall a fresh new vibe. Say hello to sparkling brand new bathrooms — yep, those toilet trips just got a serious upgrade and to keep things cool (literally), new fans are on the way for the main hall area.
The hall is looking fresher than ever, having also been spruced up on the outside too. A few more tweaks to be done, but almost there.
The hall is ready for your next gathering, party, or community get-together. Plus, the play park is still getting its glow-up, so watch this space for more fun stuff coming soon.
Come check it out — we think you are going to love it.
Good News for Our Streets
On 24 July 2025, Mrs. Vuyolazi Tsangana from Ndlambe Municipality met with municipal reps and the appointed contractor to share some exciting news: contractors are set to give five streets a much-needed makeover — including our very own Galjoen Street in Cannon Rocks, plus two streets in Boknes. Work is expected to start around mid-August.
To keep things on track, a Project Steering Committee (PSC) is being formed. This team includes municipal staff, the contractors and local representatives, including our trusted CRRA Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson and Mr. Wessie Westerman, who will make sure our community’s voice is heard loud and clear.
At a follow-up meeting on 31 July at the Community Hall, residents were updated on the plans. Our Chairperson gave a quick overview of how municipal funding works, followed by the engineer explaining what the street repairs will involve.
Exciting improvements are on the way — stay tuned.

Behind the Scenes Heroes
While we are all going about our day, the Cannon Rocks Ratepayers Association and our hardworking Portfolio Holder for Maintenance and Infrastructure is quietly rolling up their sleeves and getting things done.
From keeping our village neat and tidy to having regular chats with Ndlambe Municipality, they are on it. Making sure our little slice of paradise stays in tip-top shape.
A big thank you for all the hard work we do not always see but definitely appreciate.
